At the awkward age of fourteen, Shan Shan's not exactly the top of the high school social ladder. The fact that he talks to his backpack and other inanimate objects doesn't help his case. Shan Shan's always been able to hear and see things that supposedly "aren't real." He never thought much of it, until he is asked to be a Guardian.

Cassiopeia
Also known as Cassie, she's Sunnyside High's new transfer student. On her first day, she befriends Shan Shan much to his surprise. There's a certain charm about her unassuming nature. Although she's sweet and polite, this girl is certainly no pushover. A year ago, her father disappeared without a word.

Adam
Wealthy, talented and a complete loner, Adam is the mysterious first violin of Sunnyside High. His musical skills serve more than just the class orchestra. For years, Adam has been eliminating karmavores as a veteran Guardian. A smile on this face is a rare sight, save for when he enjoys a cup of tea over Mozart. (He's British.)

Backpack
He's cute. He's cuddly. But he's not always the nicest companion. Backpack's accompanied Shan Shan since childhood. And although the dog-shaped backpack certainly doesn't make Shan Shan any more popular in highschool, at least he's always there to watch his back. And his lunch.
